The Tampa Bay area features more than 100 golf courses – some with beautiful neighborhoods built around them. While there are many fabulous Tampa golf communities, five of the best are Cheval Golf & Athletic Club, Hunter’s Green Country Club, Westchase Golf Club, Tampa Palms Country Club
The Tampa Bay area is perfect for golf living because of great weather throughout the year. Public courses are often packed. Living where you have access to your own neighborhood golf course is a great advantage.
Here’s a closer look at five Tampa golf communities.
Tampa Palms Country Club
This is one of the largest neighborhoods in Tampa Bay, with more than 7,000 acres that includes beautiful lakes and park lands. Tampa Palms is located on Interstate 75 north, about a half hour north of downtown Tampa. It is part of the New Tampa development.
Tampa Palms includes a number of small villages, each designed to offer its own aesthetic. While the neighborhood has been around since the 1980s, there are still new homes being built in the final phase of the development. The community offers shops, restaurants and entertainment all within a close driving distance.
The Tampa Palms Country Club includes an Art Hills golf course. It also has a fitness center, pro shop and two swimming pools, making this one of the nicer golf neighborhoods in the city.
Hunter’s Green Country Club
This neighborhood is also in New Tampa and offers all the amenities one expects from the area. That includes plenty of trees, flowers, parks and lakes, as well as nearby areas of restaurants and shops. Wiregrass Mall is not far up Interstate 75.
Hunter’s Green Country Club offers resort-style pools, fitness rooms, and a golf course. You can also attend many events through the year at the country club. Hunter’s Green also has added a mini-golf course, a fire pit, and other amenities to make this another New Tampa golf community worth checking out.
Westchase Golf Club
The Westchase golf neighborhood is in northwest Tampa. The neighborhood is master planned and deed restricted, offering Tampa residents a community that is among the most beautiful in the city. In addition to offering easy access to the airport and St. Petersburg, the neighborhood also sits close to three malls: Westshore Plaza, Westfield Citrus Park and International Plaza.
The Westchase Golf Club has been rated by the National Golf Association as among the best in the nation. It also scores highly in customer satisfaction. It makes this Tampa golf community one of the most attractive in the area.
Cheval Golf and Athletic Club
This neighborhood in north Tampa is home to a golf course as well as other spectacular amenities such as indoor golf simulators, tennis courts and a swimming pool, all in a resort-like setting. Cheval is in Lutz, about 15 miles north of downtown Tampa. It provides a great combination of luxury and proximity to the city center.
The club offers a wide range of services, including swimming courses for infants, a triathlon club, a wine club, an arcade and a playground. It is considered one of the best golf neighborhoods in the area.
Heritage Isles Golf and Country Club
Also located in New Tampa, this beautiful community is a bit newer than its neighbors. The neighborhood includes both single-family homes and townhouses where you don’t have to concern yourself with a lawn. Heritage Isles also offers easy access to downtown Tampa, Brandon and the areas of growth east of the city.
The golf course at Heritage Isles was designed by Gordon G. Lewis and Jed Azinger and is meant to make use of the natural Florida terrain. It includes preservation of 15 acres of wetlands and a thriving community of animals. These are five Tampa golf communities, but certainly not all of them. Each offers its own unique take on what golf neighborhoods should include. If you’re interested in living in a Tampa golf community, they are all worth your consideration.
