One of the great real estate advantages for young families in the Tampa area is the sheer number of great neighborhoods. Each has its own unique personality and brings different advantages to the table.
However, some stand out as among the best in the area for young families. Part of the reason is simply that so many other young families already live there, drawn by features such as parks, playgrounds, low crime rates, great schools and well-maintained streets and sidewalks.
Best Tampa Neighborhoods For Young Families
Luckily, these neighborhoods are scattered throughout the area, giving parents a chance to pick a neighborhood that has the most convenient commute and the school they really want their children to attend.
While the below neighborhoods are not the only ones suited for young families, they are among the Tampa area’s best.
One of the first suburban communities in Tampa remains one of the best. Carrollwood sits on either side of North Dale Mabry Highway, roughly bounded by Linebaugh Avenue to the south and Erlich Road to the north. On the east side of Dale Mabry Highway is the original Carrollwood subdivision, called “Old Carrollwood.” To the west is Carrollwood Villages. On either side, the area offers parks, playgrounds, well-maintained houses and a strong neighborhood association. The area also has some of the best schools in Tampa.
Running east to west along either side of Interstate 75 north of Tampa, Wesley Chapel has long been a favored destination for families. The area is rich with amenities, beautiful neighborhoods and nearby shopping such as The Shops at Wiregrass and Tampa Premium Outlets.
Westchase is a large, suburban neighborhood west of the city center. The neighborhood sits north of Tampa Road, with a western boundary of Race Track Road, an eastern boundary of Sheldon Road and South Mobley Road to the north. The area features mostly newer homes built in the late 1980s through 2004. The neighborhood is surrounded by great restaurant and shopping choices. Westchase also offers parks, tennis courts and highly rated elementary schools.
One of the most-recognized planned communities in the Tampa area, New Tampa offers all the advantages of planned community living. That includes beautifully maintained streets and parks, easy access to interstates that lead into the city, lighted basketball and tennis courts, jogging paths and fitness centers. One of the more popular neighborhoods within the area is Hunter’s Green, east of Interstate 75.
South of New Tampa but also east of Interstate 75, Brandon is a like a city all of its own. The area links together many distinctive neighborhoods, each offering a welcoming suburban feel. Commuting is also easier because of the Leroy Selmon Expressway, which connects Brandon to downtown Tampa and south Tampa.
These are just some of the great neighborhood choices in Tampa for young families. With schools, safety and a community feel high priorities, each one of these areas can provide potential house buyers a great place to call home.
