What Is a Tampa Military Neighborhood?

Those in the military, both active duty service members and veterans, are looking for many of the same type of amenities that everyone else wants. Fortunately, a Tampa military neighborhood fits what they are looking for. These neighborhoods offer fantastic features. Some also are closer to MacDill Air Force Base, a big asset for active duty service members.

Tampa Military Neighborhood Amenities

A Tampa military neighborhood offers some of the best living that the Tampa Bay area has to offer. That includes great schools, beautiful homes, parks, nearby shopping and restaurant options and neighbors who maintain the beauty of their homes.

They include the following.

South Tampa

For those serving at MacDill Air Force Base, the South Tampa neighborhood offers one of the best locations to live in the city. The area features beautiful, historic homes as well as custom-built new development. It also is near Bayshore Boulevard and its excellent sidewalk for walkers and joggers along Tampa Bay. Downtown, Channelside and Ybor City are also nearby.

Carrollwood

One of the first suburbs in the city, Carrollwood now is a “close in” suburban area with quiet streets, beautiful homes, great schools and plenty of sidewalks to stroll in the evening. It also has a strong sense of community among the people who call it home. Its central location makes everything seem not too far a drive away.

Brandon/Riverview

Many choose this satellite community to Tampa for the wealth of home choices, the quiet neighborhoods and the access provided to MacDill Air Force Base and the downtown area via the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway. In addition to easy access to the base, the Brandon/Riverview area also has become a popular Tampa military neighborhood because of its proximity to a great shopping and restaurants.

New Tampa/Wesley Chapel

This area is a bit farther out for those who work at the base but is a popular choice for commuters because it sits near the intersection of Interstate 75 and Interstate 275. And this neighborhood offers a lot. Beautiful master planned communities. A great outdoor mall at the Shops at Wiregrass. Parks and private-access lakes. Beautiful golf courses. It’s even the site for the first crystal lagoon in the United States!

Westchase

For those seeking a Tampa military neighborhood, Westchase offers a few amenities that others do not. Westchase is close to both the Gulf of Mexico beaches and Tampa International Airport. The area boasts planned communities with resort-style amenities. But it also has townhouses and condos mixed in with older homes, giving veterans and active-duty service members a variety of choices.

In the end, it’s up to each buyer to decide what best suits them. The same is true for active duty military personnel and veterans who want to balance the best location with the amenities they want. The wonderful thing about Tampa is that it offers many fantastic options.
